Argentina are the reigning South American and world champions, having won the the Copa América in 2019 and 2024, and the FIFA World Cup in 2022, but in the shadow of the national team's success lies a domestic football ecosystem in ruins.
Years, if not decades, of corruption and mismanagement, compounded by a civil war between Argentine Football Association president Claudio Tapia and Argentina's president Javier Milei, has turned a world class league into a national humiliation.
So in this video, HITC Sevens takes a look at the problems facing Argentine football, why they might get worse before they get better, and just what on earth is going in Argentina.
